Hello and welcome to English 7 - room R8
This is where you will find out the assignments for the week and see reference to the long term work that will be due for the class. Since this is the first week, there is not much to note, but there are some pieces of information that are due this week. Also, please note that I put the assignments for the week on this page, so if you do not know what an assignment means, that probably indicates that it has not been given yet.
Week of May 13 - 17
Speeches - prepare for them and follow your calendar.

Week of May 6 - 10
Today we turned in the speech contract sheet. If not turned it, make sure to have it complete by Friday along with a comolete introduction for the speech.
Spelling is due on Friday with a test on Monday.
Questions for "Monsters" play are due on Monday.
Don't forget Open House on Thursday -
Week of April 29 - May 3
Monday quiz on analyzing quotation from the Giver following the pattern we learned last week. The only other assignment fdor the week is project May 2 and 3 for turn-in. As I am sure you remember, there will be STAR testing Tuesday and Wednesday.
Week of April 22 - 26
Aren't we all glad to be back.
Summary sheet for outside reading project due Th/F. The project itself is due on May 2/3 - next Thursday or Friday.
Quotation analysis from the Giver worksheet is due on Th/F (we will begin it in class) The formal test for these quotations will be on Monday, 4/30.
Week of April 8 - 12
Read chapters 16 till the end of the book. There is a vocabulary test on Monday which includes the words from the first two lists. The list for the last week which is due on Th/F is as follows. languid 166, augmented 168, haphazard 169, tantalizing 172, resignation 177.
Be getting started on your outside reading project. The due date is/May 2,3.
Spelling test on the words given on Monday 4/1 will be on T/W of this week.
Week of April 1 - 5
Read Chapters 9 through 15 (we read chapter 8 in class on Monday). There will be a quiz on Th/F.
Vocabulary is due on Th/F - crescendo 59, jaunty 60, integrity 62, precision 70, admonition 89, vibrance 99, invigorating 108, excruciating 111, ominous 113, imploring 119.
Spelling homework due Th/F.
Week of March 25 - 29
The vocabulary words for the first week of the Giver are: palpable(3), distraught (4), rituals (5), apprehensive (9),adherence (12), chastised 34), indulgently (42), relinquish (42), nurturers (43), meticulously (48)
Reading for this week is chapters 2 through 7.
Make-up verb test to improve scores will be given on Monday.There will also be a spelling test.
Week of March 18 - 22
Spelling workd due Th/F and final test Monday.
In class RTL essay on Nothing But the Truth in class on T/W - be sure to bring all double-entry journal pages to class to prepare for the writing. All work will be completed in class.
Begin Giver on Th/F - vocab begun that day and due Th/F of the following week.

February 25 - 29
This week we will be preparing for the STAR state writing test which will be given throughout California on Tuesday, 3/5. Each class meeting we will work with another genre and organizer to be prepared for this writing. Homework for Monday 3/4 of next week will be to review the formats of each writing type in preparation for the writing test.
Also, spelling homework is due on T/W for the Unit 11 spelling test. Vocabulary for Nothing But the Truth third group of words is due Th/F along with the double entry journal pages that go along with that reading.
February 11 - 15
Monday - Read the story "ZOO" from the literature book and do the question sheet and the organizer for the response to literature.
Make sure the verb sheet is complete for T/W.
For T/W we will check the vocabulary for Nothing But the Truth and read the next part of the book. The vocabulary test for the first 20 words will be on Th/F.
We will write a RTL paragraph in class which will need to be completed by the end of the week.
February 4 - 8
We have started the new novel and the homework consists of the double entry journal pages for each section. We will check and discuss the second one (pp. 25 - 50 on Th/F and be assigned the next one (p.50 - 75) which will be due on Monday 2/11. The vocabulary test for two lists will be cumulative and will be on Th/F ( 2/14/15). Students should finish any part of these journals that are not completed in class. Also, we are beginning the study of linking and helping verbs. Homework is any worksheet not completed in class.
January 28 - February 1
Sorry for the lack of assignment entries this week.
We begin a new novel Nothing But the Truth in class and the double entry journal page is due on Monday with another one given on Th/F which is also due on Monday.
The vocabulary for the week is due on Th/F
There will be a grammar assessment on Th/F which is the same as we have taken before with the addition of commas. We have been preparing in class for this - subject, verb, phrase, clause (independent and dependent), conjunctions, and commas.
