If you would like to re-take a spelling test, please copy the words that you missed three times to earn make-up points on spelling tests. I will collect these re-take tests every Monday.

SPEECH TIMELINE:
Congrats students! This is your 7th and final "major paper" for English class this year!
Week of 4/23 Students brainstorm and research on computers (work on graphic organizer for homework)
Week of 4/30 Work on speeches in class (NO homework so please use your class time wisely)
Week of 5/7 Bring your Speech and be ready to Peer Edit
Week of 5/14 Students will begin presenting their Speeches in class
Week of 5/21 Determine Semi-finalists in class
Grade Level Semi-finals will be 5/30 (7th) and 5/31 (8th)
Monday 6/4: Final Speech Contest @ School Assembly

SPEECHES:
Speeches continue. Be sure to bring your rough and final draft of your TYPED Speech.
Bring your notecards.
SCENES:
Bring 3 copies of your typed scene from The Giver or The Call of the Wild.
Practice in groups.
SPELLING:
Test on Unit 6 and Pre-test on Unit 12.
GRADES:
Check your grades on Powerschool and turn in any missing or incomplete work.
Come talk to me if you see any errors or have work to turn in.

SPEECHES:
Prepare to present your Speech.
Tuesday 15 & Wednesday 16: Group 1 (M-Z)
Thursday 17 & Friday 18: Group 2 (A-L)
Be sure to practice your Speech at home AT LEAST five times.
Check the timing of your Speech.
It should be 3-5 minutes long.
SCENES:
Work in groups on your scene from The Giver or The Call of the Wild (COTW).
Be sure to have a typed script with at least 30 lines or 3 minutes from any scene in the book you want to act out.
2-3 people per group.
DUE Monday 5/21: TYPED Scene/Script/Play is due Monday 5/21. Please bring three copies.
