What is TNT?
TNT, Teaching and Tutoring, is a before-and-after school tutoring program made possible through funding from the LGEF and Fisher School Site Council. Any Fisher Middle School student may participate either on a voluntary basis or at the request of a parent or teacher. TNT's goal is to provide a safe place where students can come to do homework, get help with homework, get together with other classmates to complete a project, read, study, use library resource materials, use the computers, or make up a test without missing class time.
TNT is open Tuesday through Friday mornings from 7:30 to 8:15 and Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons from 3:15 to 4:30. The testing service is available both mornings and afternoons. Upon request, a student will be provided verification that he/she attended TNT. Morning TNT will be held in the library. Afternoon TNT will be held in the library, the computer room, and room 28. Testing will take place in room 18. TNT is not open on minimum days or the day before a holiday. If TNT needs to close for any other reason, it is announced several days in advance, and the date is posted on the library door.
I would like to emphasize to parents that TNT is not a day care program or a social club. It is a time for students to be working and studying quietly. Students are expected to sign into TNT with all necessary materials and books by 3:30 and to have taken care of all personal business before entering. They are expected to remain in TNT until they sign out, and they are not readmitted once having signed out. Appropriate behavior is expected at all times and students must respect the library rules, or they will be asked to leave. Due to construction at Fisher this year and the limited space available for TNT, it is especially important that all students cooperate in order for the program to be successful.
We have a qualified, caring staff in TNT who would like to help make your child's time at Fisher as productive as possible!
